Naked Plates was opened in the fall of 2005 by Matt Wood. After spending 8 years working in a paint your own pottery studio in Southern Maine Matt decided to bring his experience to Seacoast New Hampshire. He focused on bringing his own personal style and taste to Naked Plates. His goal was to create a warm and friendly studio designed for both children and adults. Through hard work and a little luck word quickly spread about Naked Plates and soon after opening the studio was attracting crowds . In 2009 Naked Plates expanded to a second location in York, Maine.
Matt was looking to expand the offerings of the studio in a unique and creative way that complimented the product offerings already available in the studio. In 2006 Naked Plates introduced a line of hand painted ceramic platters designed to take the place of a traditional wedding guest book. Naked Plates' line of Wedding Signature Platters was born. These unique platters can be painted to any style or taste. The wedding couple chooses their design and color scheme then a Naked Plates' artist creates the design on a platter. Once painted the Wedding Signature Platter is glazed and fired in a kiln to almost 2000 degrees. Using a special ceramic pen provided with every order, the wedding guests sign on the finished platter at the wedding reception. Once the platter has been signed by all guests, the wedding couple needs only to bake the platter in their own home oven for 30 minutes to seal on the signatures. The wedding couple has a truly unique keepsake to help remember all the wonderful memories of their special day.
In the summer of 2008 Naked Plates expanded its' line of Wedding Signature Platters to include designs for other occassions. Its' full product line now includes platters for weddings, anniversaries, bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, graduations, and more! Naked Plates is helping to create keepsakes one signature at a time.
